As part of our celebrations for the Humphry Repton bicentenary we will visit Woburn Abbey, without doubt Repton’s most prestigious commission and the one which he recognised as most fully realising his ideas and plans.

After coffee on arrival, in the morning we will have an opportunity to tour the house and in particular the Repton exhibition “Humphry Repton: Art and Nature for the Duke of Bedford”, which centres around his “Red Book”. This contains his most ambitious and detailed designs covering the approaches to the Abbey, the lakes and plantings in the surrounding parkland and the formal Pleasure Grounds. Also on display are his designs for other properties owned by the Duke of Bedford, including the picturesque Endsleigh, Oakley House and Russell Square.

Following lunch (not included in the price), we will be given a guided tour of the gardens and parkland.

A minibus has been laid on and will depart from Tesco car park, Emscote Road, Warwick at 9:00 a.m. and leave Woburn at 16:30.
