Visit – Garden of Heroes and Villains
June 27 @ 9:45 am - 3:00 pm
| £25 – £30There is an opportunity for WGT members to join the open day at the Garden of Heroes and Villains, located within the Heart of England Forest. The garden is only open on a limited number of days during the year and numbers are restricted; therefore, please book early to avoid disappointment. The price includes a donation to the Heart of England Forest charity. All funds raised go to supporting their work in planting trees, creating wildlife habitats and the education of woodland environments.
The Garden of Heroes and Villains is a private sculpture garden, which was commissioned by the late Felix Dennis. It features over 50 life-size bronze statues of iconic figures (including The Beatles, Albert Einstein and Muhammad Ali).
Some of our members will recall meeting Felix Dennis during earlier WGT visits in 2010 and 2011, and how delightful it was to meet him and enjoy his gardens and poetry books. He has left a lasting legacy.
After the garden visit, there are many paths to explore the surrounding woodland and nature of the Heart of England Forest. The forest covers 9,000 acres with 58 miles of public footpaths. There are a number of waymarked trails within the forest, ranging from gentle 1½ mile strolls to a 4 mile Founder’s Walk, with stunning views across some of the newly planted woodland.
For the open day, the garden is open from 10am. Facilities will be provided during the day and refreshments available to purchase. There will also be a designated mown picnic area just outside the garden (food must not however be brought into the garden). Please bring a picnic blanket for this area as there are no benches.
