SUMMARY:Cancelled Visit - Wotton House
DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled for lack of interest.\n\nThe privately owned Wotton House was built between 1704 and 1714 in an English Baroque style. The Grade I landscape has undergone two major phases of development. The early C18th gardens may have been laid out by George London and Henry Wise\, with a formal parterre and double elm avenue (replanted with lime in late C20th). Between 1750 and 1767 ‘Capability’ Brown\, William Pitt and Sanderson Miller carried out further improvements\, creating two lakes and pleasure grounds with Fivearch Bridge (modelled on the Shell Bridge at Stowe)\, Rotunda\, Grotto\, temples and statues. A stunning view across the lake can be seen from the eighteenth-century Turkey Building\, one of the few remaining examples of a Turkish Tent in Britain. The south pavilion of Wotton House\, once owned by the actor Sir John Gielgud\, is now a weekend and holiday retreat for Sir Tony Blair\, the former British Prime Minister\, and his family. \nMeet up at 12.30pm: The Minibus will pick up from Tesco’s\, Warwick\, at 12.45 pm\, returning to Tesco’s at approximately 18.15 pm. \nNote: The mini-bus for this trip has a capacity of 20 and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. \nNote: The mini-bus for this trip has a capacity of 20 and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. \n  \nBook Here
