SUMMARY:Research Day
DESCRIPTION:Research Opportunity \nWarwickshire Gardens Trust\, in conjunction with Oxford Gardens Trust\, has been able to obtain one of the three  grants awarded to The Gardens Trust (GT) by the Worshipful Company of Gardeners and the Finnis Scott Foundation\, to run workshops using source materials and a site survey in order to understand historic designed landscape development. The content will be suitable for absolute beginners and will include: \n\nlearning to locate and use primary and secondary source materials (e.g.\, books\, online resources\, maps\, images\, archived records\, aerial photography\, lidar) to understand the creation and evolution of the historic designed landscape. walking and recording the landscape\, comparing existing features to historical\nrecords.\nUsing what has been learned on the day to piece together the landscape’s history\, creating a timeline and a basic research report. Learning about the fuller history of the site\, using prior research by the local CGT.\n\nWe are looking for people who are new to research who may or may not be members either of Warwickshire Gardens Trust or the Gardens Trust.  The day workshop will be in Banbury – at the Museum – and we will use People’s Park as our study site. If there is something particular that would interest you\, please do get in touch and tell us.  We are looking for some forward commitment to take on our research\, focusing on a selection of local sites and with a view to reforming a small research team. \nBanbury Museum is a few minutes walk along the canal towpath from Banbury Station. \nFor further information contact: Paul Baker at info@warwickshiregardenstrust.org.uk \nBook here
